The explorers of the city of West Covina Police Department would like to invite you to joinour law enforcement explorer post. The Explorer Post #499 has been active for over 30 years and we pride ourselves in providing the best law enforcement exploring experience in the San Gabriel Valley. Chartered through the Boy Scouts of America, we comply with the scouting policies and procedures that protect and provide guidance for youth across the country. Our explorer program is designed to transition youth into the law enforcement profession in a challenging learning environment. Leader ship, professionalism, ethics, social responsibility, healthy self-esteem, decision-making and community service are key components of our training program. Our police explorer post exists to provide support to our police department and service to the citizens of West Covina while collaterally fostering a great learning and social environment for youth who are interested on law enforcement careers. Most of our weekly duties are composed of support functions that assist in the efficient daily operations of our police department. We also train and participate in several Law Enforcement Explorer Competitions. The competitions are composed of events like biathlons, canoe races, obstacle courses, building searches, marching, felony car-stops, drug raids, relay races, wall climbs, DUI investigations, cargo thefts, and many more. Police explorers from all over the western regional U.S. attend these competitions which facilitate a
great competitive experience for all of the explorers. All of the members of our post enjoy the explorer competitions in addition to our beach parties, dinners and other social functions.
Law Enforcement Exploring is not for everyone!
